Winter Weather? Farmers Almanac Says 'Numbs the Word!''

What are some signs that this may be true that we are going to have a bitter cold winter? I hear some parts of the country will see higher than normal precipitation. Some says they see more than many acorns on the ground proves this. Some say their dogs fur is getting increasingly thicker. We have even seen the leaves on trees turning gold already. In fact we saw that in July. Any other things to watch out for.

Thanks,
