  1. Read your Bible.  Help other people.  Try my friend's website  at

  2. Find couple of hours just for yourself. Find a calm place where nobody  will disturb you. Home or local library. Take a piece of paper. Write down  everything what is good in your life. Everything what you do not like in your life. Everything what you wish for. Everything you are afraid of. Put down  what make you happy. What makes you upset.You might do it in form of  interview with yourself. Question yourself : What is your biggest problem ? What do you think might help ? Do you know anybody who can help you ? What will make you happy ? How can you get it, achieve it.  Then read what you wrote. Underline what you feel is the most important issue and start working on it. If you do not know how to start  borrow a book on topic. Look at  self-help, self improvement section.

  3. Don't be hard on yourself.

    Try to find the life lesson in every bad time or disaster.

    Take the time- every single day- to appreciate something or someone.

    Every day, say something nice to someone, and bring a smile to their face.

    Realize that no matter how bad times may be right now, things WILL get better.

    Do your best, always.

    Give generously of yourself to a good cause.

    Pet a friendly dog.

Quit thinking about yourself all time.  Make positive steps toward making others feel good about themselves.  You won't believe me but this works.  Volunteer to help someone who really needs it.  Lots of single moms never get to go anywhere other than their work.  Give them a night out to just visit friends or go out, by giving her a gift certificate to babysit her kids for her.  Take interest in a person no one else ever seems to notice.  Watch that person gain esteem and confidence when they have someone who cares for them.  This is not a scam.  You have to show real interest.

    Start writing what you know is going on around you.  Journaling makes you become more aware of who you are.  And gives you a sense of satisfaction.  

    And sing.   It is hard to be unhappy while you sing happy songs.  Don't sing depressing songs.  Most people are about as happy as they make up their mind to be.  

    When you smile, you will feel it inside of you.  So make a point of smiling, smiling, and smile some more.

  5. Take out a piece of paper: write down 5 negative things about yourself and 5 positive things.  

    skip a few lines and write 5 short term goals for yourself: career, school, dating, etc.

    Skip a few lines and write 3 long term goals for yourself.

    This will allow you to always focus on things that you have in mind to please yourself and can allow you to feel accomplished.  The short term goals should be approximately 3 months in the future.  The long term is about a year.  

    Get a diary and take the 5 negatives and 5 positives and write what you did to make each one a truth or reality every day.  If you find that you are writing more negative than positive it is time to reinforce those positive attributes.

  6. look around and appreciate what you do have rather than what you don't.  Acknowledge how easily things could turn around for you and change your life for the worse in a flash.  Realize that happiness occurs only in moments - it's not a lifestyle and learn to hold onto and worship those moments in your memory bank.

    You just need to appreciate the positives in your life and accept that there's absolutely nothing wrong with just being content with life and the little things in life.  things can always get worse - be thankful for what you still have and learn to separate bad things that happen to those around you and bad things that happen directly to you.  And only accept those things that happen to you - as your burden.
