  1. limit intake of junk foods and fast foods to just 1 or 2 every 2 weeks...im taking dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate for snack

  2. Drink orange juice in the morning. My mom did this and over time she lost a lot of weight from it. It's because the OJ kickstarts your metabolism and gets it going so you burn more calories throughout the day.

  3. Outside of what you've already been told (which was mostly accurate), I would add the importance of portion control. Avoid foods that you tend to overeat on. Pizza, Ice Cream and Potato Chips are some of the worst offenders for most people, but even Grapes can be a problem if you eat loads of them (like I tend to do). On the flip side, a small serving of some very unhealthy food can be alright, as long as you keep it to just that one serving- moderation is key. For example, if you grab small, prepackaged cups of Ice Cream, that would be far better than going for a whole half gallon, as when you are spooning Ice cream from the big container to the bowl, you can wind up with quite a bit more than one half cup- the serving size for any ice cream.

Try to make the majority of your diet whole plant foods; fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds and beans are all included. Get modererate amounts of lean meat and fat free or low fat dairy as well. Fill your kitchen with foods from these groups that you enjoy, and experiment with a wide variety of foods from these groups that you havn't tried before. Microwave Popcorn can be a very healthy choice, as long as you go for a low fat version.

As far as exercise, find a kind that you enjoy- walking is great, but if you like jumping rope, dancing, kickboxing, gardening or whatever- go for it.

Avoid juices. One other answerer said that drinking OJ in the morning will help metabolism. This is only partially correct. Any food in the morning will keep your metabolism up, but OJ, or any juice, is almost the worst thing to have, as it all sugar, with fewer nutrients than whole fruit.  100% whole grain cereal with skim milk and whole fruit is my preffered breakfast, though Eggs and/or toast are good too.  Anytime you want to drink something, water should be your preffered choice, but you don't need to guzzle down huge amounts either. If you feel like a drink, go for water, but you don't need a gallon a day or anything like that. You get plenty of water from the food you eat, especcialy if you eat fruit and other high water content foods.

  4. eat five small meals a day.  stay away from foods with high frutose corn syrup.  reward yourself some way for your victories.  this will keep you motivated.  allow yourself to have foods that are basically on the no no list once a week, within reason.

  5. Don't do seconds and don't snack in the evening. Always helps me.

  6. to get started no soda drink a gallon of water a day spring or distill no tap water!! or crystal light for your meals.

Breakfast eat 3 egg whites or oatmeal and a fruit.

Lunch eat a grilled chicken breast vegetables with light oil 1 teaspoon  and a fruit.

Dinner eat a tuna or chicken salad / grilled or broil chicken breast with Mrs. Dash on it and a small cut of vegetables and a fruit.

    no eating after 7pm !!

do 250 sit-ups in the morning and 250 sit-ups before bed.

Do leg squats against the wall 3 sets of 20 once every other day.

Walk for 30 minutes twice a day or jog in the house for 30 minutes if the weather is bad out.

Try this for 3weeks and see the difference only if you really want to loose weight.

  7. Drinking OJ will NOT make you lose weight. Good Lord.

    Small things:

    * No sugar or procesessed flour (whiye bread, white rice, candy, soda etc)

    * No saturated fat (stay away from fast food and processed meals

    * Drink a ton of water

    * Eat six meals per day (boosts metabolism)

  8. A soda has 180 calories. There are about 3,500 calories in a pound. So if you give up a soda everyday, and don't replace those calories with anything else (like drinking water instead like you said), you will lose a lb every 19-20 days. Same thing for butter on your toast in the morning. If it's not a big deal to you, use just organic fruit spread, which would save you almost as many calories everyday- that would be another pound every few weeks. Just those two differences could cause you to lose 2 lbs every 3 weeksor 34 lbs a year if you have that much extra weight to use.

Any little thing you do constantly effects your weight. so taking the stairs every day will burn so many extra calories also- say it's only 100 calories. Every 35 days you will lose a pound from that.

You totally have the right idea-just be consistent with these things and they will pay off.

Also make sure you make breakfast and lunch your biggest meals, and dinner a light one, and drink water as soon as you wake up to get things going. Probiotic (good bacteria, like in yogurt) capsules aid digestion too- many people don't realize bad digestion causes them to gain weight, and they can only help you either way.

Try and be in a frame of mind like "I am an on the go active person. I don't like sitting too long. I need a stretch break/walk break, etc" you will find you have more energy to be even more active in time.
