What are some specific case studies where independent thinkers do things on their own...?

I need a specific case study where an independent thinker invents something and they are critized for it. If you know alot of them, tell me them ALL!

  1. Edison, Telsa, Ford, the Wright brothers...but you say 'case study', sounds like you need documentation, like the early patents from Einstein.

    “do things on their own” you say, that sounds like a commune, making a turkey sandwich from scratch. As in starting by planting the wheat to later be ground to flour and baked to bread.

    Are you just looking for encouragement?

  2. John McCain ... thought and acted independent of his party and was written off. He won the nomination without his party leaders backing; on his own.

  3. Thomas Edison was called "insane" by the majourity of the population for some of the things he invented that later became staples of technology.

    Galileo was called a heretic by the Catholic Church for his astronomical theories, and was eventually put to death for them.
