What are some stuff about Platyapus?

I know this may seem odd but the platypus is my favorite animal! i I feel i should know more about it. Also i would like to know if they are endangered. Some people say they are almost endangered but i want to know if they are! can you sponsor them at the zoo?

One cool fact about the platypus is that it is one of the very few venemous mammals.  The males have a spur in their hind legs that secrets a toxin, which is reported to cause pain so terrible that it won't respond to morphine.

They also close their eyes when they hunt underwater, they use electricity to sense their prey, like sharks can :) Very cool.  I dont know about their status, we have plenty where I live though.
