What are some suggestions for a beginner Acoustic Guitar with Sounds of DMB, Jack Johnson, and the like?

I'm interested in starting but I'd like some suggestions from people who have actually played the guitar or have any input. Thanks!

Depends on budget for the Guitar but all the names you listed play both the Gibson songwriter or Martin guitars. My first acoustic was a Gibson from 1974 and it sounded great but I love my 2002 Songwriter now-

Try to avoid fender acoustics.  I palyed one for way to olong because I couldn't afford a replacement.  The action was terrible and the tone detrimented over the years.  Try to get an Epiphone Dove or similar.  Art and Lutherie is a good canadian made guitar, seagull guitars are good.  All those mentioned artists use expensive american made acoustics like Martin, Taylor, etc that aren't that great for a beginner.
