What are some suggestions for great gifts to show my child's preschool teachers that I appreciate them?

My child attends preschool at the child development center on campus of a community college. Her class is in the middle of hiring several new permanent teachers (they've lost a few recently due to maternity leave, promotion, etc) so while there are a few permament teachers, there are also several different part time teachers that fill in randomly throughout the day. I want to show my appreciation to each of the teachers by giving a small gift, but this is tricky because there are different teachers in my child's class every day (due to the current situation). I'm on a college student's budget, but the teachers do an important job so I want to show my appreciation as generously as I can. Any suggestions for gifts for a situation like this? Thank you!

At your college are there any students learning massage or within your area? You could talk to them and offer them a small fee and send them over for the staff to have 10-15 min massages each over their lunch break. It will help the students from the massage class and I am sure that both male and female teachers will appreciate.

Speak to the centre director to organise the most appropriate day and time for this to be done. I bet they will never forget you as it is original and a special treat that they won't often have.

Gift certificates are always nice. To the movies, or a local restaurant. Your local movie rental store. I'm going to be doing the same thing for my son's pre-k teacher. I'm going with the movie one. =)

Hi there,

I am a preschool teacher and have been fortunate enough to receive many gifts in my twelve years of teaching. Many parents and families go to great expense giving boxed chocolates / expensive gifts for the classroom (such as a new book or CD / CD Rom. However, the most heartfelt gifts to me are those in which the children themselves have been involved in the creation somehow. You could make a massive batch of special cookies - 4-6 for each teacher. Make these with your child and package them attractively together, then make a card. Everyone - male and female loves receiving genuine home baked treats and they are such a rarity these days. Both you and your child will be focused on thanking throughout the process - so they'll taste extra good and it doesn't need to cost a fortune. Cellophane comes in enormous sheets that can be gathered prettily and formed with a bow. I am sure you will have some amazing family recipe that only you could share with them. :)

I know this might sound silly, but nothing is nicer than a cool pen. I know thruout all the years that I worked as both a Preschool Teacher and School Teacher I enjoyed getting pens. It is something that I could never have enough of. I had a tendency to not lose the ones that had something neat about them. A cool top on them, ones that hang around your neck, etc. It is not that expensive and shows your appreciation.

one of my favorite gifts to send to my childens teachers are candy bars along with little notes!  for example, during teacher appreciation week, we sent something each day, for ex., the new m&m candy bar called "M-AZING" had a note attatched that said how 'amazing' my children thought their teachers were, a small bag of peppermint was sent with a note reading "Thankx for your commit-"MINT", a box of raisins with a note reading "We have so many "RAISINS" (reasons) to appreciate you, and so on.  these type gifts are very inexpensive but get the point across to the teachers that you really appreciate what they do for your child!

When I was a preschool teacher I received a pack of life savers with a note : "You have been a lifesaver to our family as well as giving our child a wonderful start."

Once I got a little bag with little symbols and a card to explain what they meant.  (Hershey's kiss and hug, lifesaver,heart trinket, a band aid, a crayon and some other things that related to the things I taught and ways they felt their child had benefited from being in my class)  It really was special.

I also loved getting a letter with the child's words, exactly as they were spoken, translated  by the parent telling me what they thought about school and me.  A picture glued to the top made it extra special.

I used to teach preschool.  The best, most meaningful gifts I received were letters from the parents.  If you can write a letter to each teacher in which you warmly state your appreciation for them, they will keep your letter forever.  And, it won't cost you anything other than a piece of stationery and your time.  (Sending a copy of your letters to the center's director would be nice, too!) Another of my favorite gifts was a small scrapbook of pictures of the class taken throughout the year.

Why don't you get a really nice card and just put into words what you truly feel about all they did for your children?  As a teacher, I can tell you that I have saved EVERY single letter a student or parent has ever given me; gifts are temporal, letters last.  Plus they are important for professional portfolios.  Personally, I always preferred that; the happiness my students show me when they see me is reward enough.

Hiya...i have greatfully recieved many gifts in my time from my children and the best gift one of them sent me was a personalised bathset...it had a flannel and it said thankyou miss...???? - then i said my name then there was a little poem attached t*t ( done on the computer by her parents) it said

Thankyou for being my teacher,

you havetaught me so many things,

youve made school life sowonderful,

and because of your help oneday my success will nswer my dreams. something individual is nice also. one child did a potrait of me then framed it.

Homemade gifts are much more heartfelt.  Your time and hard work are sincerely appreciated.  Make these gifts a joint effort between you and your child.  You can be very creative or make something simple, it really doesn't matter.  Go on line and look up SIMPLE HOMEMADE GIFTS KIDS CAN MAKE.  Flowers from your garden homemade cakes, cookies placed in cute bags from the 99 cent store or Big Lots are easy.  I've received homemade soaps and candles, these can always be purchased  at The Dollar Store also, if time is a factor. Remember to attach a handwritten card.  Most importantly, don't stress out about this, teachers just like to know that parents value  what they do!  :)  Good luck!

My sister is a pre-school teacher and receives a wide variety of gifts. The ones she loves the most are the gift cards. They don't have to be much, even as little as $5 shows you care. Places she loves getting them from include Starbucks, Wal-Marts, Panera Bread, etc.

One thing to avoid - the ceramic mug. I can't tell you how many she has received over the 15 years of teaching.
