  1. go for the ball

  2. You can only show how much fun it is, by having open nights for volleyball, for anyone to join in - and try it...

To have special coaching nights, in which some coaching is given, for newbies wanting to learn how to play?

Volleyball is an ideal family sport - for families with children over 12 years old, especially - or even just under that age.

I do think using a soft lightweight volleyball makes all the difference in increasing the fun (also the safety) factor - such as the Mikasa Training Series VUL500 volleyball, that has the correct air pressure that ensures it is 'soft'.  That you should be able to press your thumbs about 1/8th inch into the ball.

Also correct footwear should be worn at all times - anything that covers your ankles is good - and to know how to treat a sprained ankle is important, for when it happens.

You don't want to put players off the sport, with finger or ankle injuries - which can be very serious.

Making some movies or television programs (series) which features volleyball being played - would of course help boost the public profile for this sport.

  3. excite the younger kids! tell them how fun it is. we have specia nights when the 4-6 grade volleyball players all wear there jerseys and they get in free to our game. Have older girls go and talk to the younger ones about how fun volleyball is and hoe exciting it can be!

  4. My school sends highschool players over to the local middle schools to talk to the kids and let them know there are open gyms which you should have so everyone can try it and let them know there's conditioning in the summer and soon after tryouts. They also let them know what it's like and answer any  questions they have. For little kids, it's hard to do that but have an open kid night of it inviting parents to come play too to see if their child likes the sport. There's plenty of interest in college but recruiters and representatives of teams can visit highschools and answer any questions highschoolers may have and set up any paperwork needed to visit the college.
