  1. The worst thing about insomnia is worrying about it.  Most of us can cope with a few days poor sleep whilst our body clocks adjust.  For those who are fasting it can be harder but really you just need to aim at a good rest, if you do sleep it's a bonus.

I found doing crosswords good when I was younger but my insomnia is caused by other things now.

{UPDATE}The computer will not help as something might catch your interest just as you would doze.  Switch it off.

  2. Don't eat too much before going to bed, but don't be hungry either.

Like the first user said, get off the computer. Asking and answering make you think about stuff. It is best to avoid thinking hard, as it will make your heart race and prevent sleep. Don't plan your chores, don't think what you should have said to people on Answers, don't discuss with your boss or husband in your head.

Get in bed at the same time every night.

Get in bed when you feel sleepy, don't wait for the bed time to come.

Be sure that you are not cold or hot. Slight differences between your ideal temperature and the existing one maynot be noticeable, but it may cause you to lose sleep.

And don't obsess over it. Obsessing really makes you lose sleep.

  3. Watch boring movies or listen to boring music :\

No really, I always found that when I was in school I was always worrying about things like not studying enough or just general things about school, try to get your mind off of those things it's kinda hard because your mind might wander, but I found that these things worked for me most of the time.

    1. Make sure it's as dark in your room as it possibly can be (unless you're deathly afraid of the dark.)

    2. Make sure it's as comfortable as possible (ie. clothes/sheets/pillows)

    3. When you're laying in bed try not to really think about any one specific thing, and if you find your mind wandering try to think in images instead of words.

    4. Some decaffeinated teas help, like chamomile or lavender or even possibly warm milk (I know its cliche but it works sometimes)

    5. Music. But make sure it's not too upbeat or catchy, try to get something relaxing and put it on low volume.

    6. Studying actually fascilitates exhaustion, textbooks can put your right to sleep sometimes when you're reading them, just make sure you're reading in bed and not at a desk or something, falling asleep in chairs rarely works out good.

I hope something here helps you, I feel for you!

  11. My advice for Muslims to fall sleep soon

I recite the following from my memory and I fall sleep very soon.

Subhanallah, wal Hamdu Lillah, wa la Elaha illallah wallaho Akbar.

These are four basic phrases to glorify Allah. These are easy to  Memorize it. This is third article of Faith of Muslims.  Just keep repeating the entire sentence over and over until you fall sleep.

It is best to glofigy Allah at the time of sleeping and it is best to

glorify Allah when you get up early morning also.

I always fall sleep repeating this entire sentence beween four to six times..  I have never repeted this sentence more than ten times.

May Allah keep us all closer to Allah and practicing our religion.
