I'm a pretty experienced rider and I've been around horses since I was 2. I jump 3'6" normally and have gone above 4 ft, but lately I've been getting pretty bored around horses, esoecially when I'm not physically riding my horse. What are some fun things I could do with only me and my horse?

  1. Grooming is a gift!! find your horses spots that he likes scratched, they get hard lips when you scratch them in the right spot. trick training on the ground is also kinda fun. But do your research and learn what you need to do, try and get him to pick up his halter, come when he is called, just have fun!!!

I hope this helps, i have a 26 mare who is ok to ride but i really just ride her to keep her fit and healthy but she is my baby i spend 2 hours just grooming her some times and it always makes my day and hers like 10 times better.

  2. dress up medieval time and ride around town looking for your price charming :D

  3. Haul your horse to a campsite and camp out with him.  Then go trail riding and exploring.  It's great fun and neither you nor your horse ever gets bored.

  4. play in the school or feild with your horse

  5. i agree with janie tricks wouldnt be boring or just go trail riding thats what i do when i get bored or i pratice doing stuff like halter class showing and barrel racing i think its fun

  6. if you normally ride in a ring try trail riding!  do some bareback riding if you normally just sit in a saddle.... good for your legs too!

you could try some form of natural horsemanship or parelli if you like the idea of it... for when you're not riding.

you could try a new discipline...

just use or imagination and good luck!

  7. Try learning a new disapline... western, or mabey doing something new in the disapline you already ride in. And if you really concerned with being on the ground and being bored. Try teaching you horse liberty training, or working on your ground work. You can even teach your horse tricks. If that fails ive found using my horses as experiments for new ways to braid and band their hair. hope this helps.

  8. take a trail ride or go camping so its just you two...or try a new sport with your friend.... im assuming you ride english cause its very uncomfortble to jump western.... try dressage or cross country....theres always something fun to do...i miss mine so enjoy your time with him or her!!
