  1. There should be some good "old" answers on Yahoo! Answers but I'm happy to tell you what I've eaten (I eat a largely plant based diet but I do also eat turkey now).

Morningstar Farms and Boca have prepared foods in the Frozen Food aisle of your grocers.  I like Morningstar Farms better.  I buy their Grillers (like a hamburger), Chik Pattie and the Sausage-flavored Crumbles, which you use like ground beef.  I do buy Boca Italian Sausage and Bratwurst, which are pretty good.

You can stir fry vegetables, have a spaghetti marinara, salads.  There are some great cookbooks and on-line recipe sites.

If you're into experimenting, you can check whether your local health food store carriers TVP - texturized vegetable protein.  It usually comes dried, in a plastic bag.  On it's own it has no taste - rather, when you cook it, the TVP rehydrates and absorbs the flavor of whatever you're cooking.

If you're going vegan, you'll be avoiding Cheese, honey, milk, etc.  Anything that comes from an animal is considered hands-off by vegans.  But plenty of veg folks are a bit more relaxed.

Good luck and be patient with yourself.  You're talking about a pretty big lifestyle change.  I've never regretted it, and I don't have the tummy problems that I had when I ate meat.

  2. you can not have anything that doesn't   contains animal protein.

  3. anything but meat

What? This answer is wrong maybe?

  4. As mentioned in the above posts, avoid meat and meat products first. Then look more closely at the other food products you consume, i.e. some cheese is prepared using rennet as this is an enzyme obtained from calves, so look for rennet free cheese. It is surprising which foods look quite vegetarian friendly, but actually contain ingredients that are derived from animals. Do your research and check. One word or warning, do not go for soy based textured vegetable protein or any unfermented soy products. The latest research is starting to show that these products are actually not that healthy. The Australian Cancer Centre has issued a warning for people not to eat soy at all if they are undergoing chemo for hormone driven cancers, as the soy drives the tumours to grow faster than the chemo can kill them. They also recommend that anyone who has recovered form breast cancer never to consume soy products again. Latest research also shows that soy will dramatically lower sperm count in men ( Harvard School of Public Health, Boston) and lead to a condition now known as estrogen overload in women. It also leads to other health problems if consumed as little as twice a week. So as far as turning vegetarian is concerned, go for it, enjoy it, enjoy the health benefits, just don't get sucked into the great soy marketing machine.

  5. you could eat that stuff but it wouldnt really any healthier. dairy products are full of hormones and fats. its better to eat stuff like speghetti (without meat of course) and rice. The occasional cheese pizza is alright but it is healthier to eat stuff like grains and vegetables.

a dietary supplement vitamin is useful because it can provide the b12 and protien that is lacking in a vegetarian diet.

  6. vegetarians can eat a variety of foods including any fruit or vegetable, and, fish, eggs or cheese.

  7. Veggie Burgers

  8. You're safe with your favs.  Unless you went vegan (no animal products) you'd run into some problems with the dairy.

Anything but meat really is fine if you choose to go vegetarian.  Be sure to get protein through beans, lentils, flax, tofu, soy products, or through some animal products like eggs, cottage cheese, milk, etc.

  9. As long as the cheese is free of animal rennet than you can eat cheese.  The only brands that I know of that are animal rennet free is Annies brand and Kraft organic mac and cheese.  Here is a website I like a lot with easy and simple recipes:
