What are some things I need to buy for a dorm room?

I'm moving into residence soon and I need to start shopping.

other than bed linens, a mini fridge, and the basics what are some stuff I should buy that I probably don't already have?

i lived in a dorm last year, and there's a lot of stuff you kind of pick up as you go along once you realize how nifty is is to have. some things to think about:

a pitcher, for kool aid, lemonade, mass margaritas, or even just water

headphones: for when you want to drown your roomate out, or in order not to bother him/her with your music

posters n stuff: personalize your room with random junk, makes it feel more homey

paper towels and febreez: you can not have enough of these. period. just trust me.

shot glasses: not sure if you're into this (i'd recommend avoiding it, actually) but they can be hard to come by if you don't have any

a lock: to lock your cabinets, suitcase, whatever

bean bag chairs: this doesn't need explanation

a carpet: check if your dorm has them or not. mine didn't and it was great walking on my carpet instead of the cold hard tiles, especially in winter

chocolate: this will keep you awake, help you cope with stress, fight of hunger, and make you lots of friends. i recommend m&m's
