  1. the price of replacement bulbs.  $500 or so a bulb.   Not cost effective, if you ask me.  They don't last as long as they say they do.  And, they require a high voltage power supply that must be sealed well against the elements for safety.

      All this trouble for headlights?  Life is complex enough.  Keep life simple, I say.


  2. Bulbs are not as expensive as the previous posts suggests.  How can they be when you can buy an entire kit ( 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts, and all the associated wiring for around 200-250 dollars ).

    The two big negatives are that if you have one bulb for both low and high beam, the xenon bulb will only work on low beam.  The other is that many head lamp reflectors are not designed for xenon bulbs.  So, in order to not blind oncoming traffic, you do have to aim your headlamps lower than normal.  This shortens the distance of illumination in front of the vehicle.
