Yesterday I saw a bunch of Psychology Textbooks at a yard sale. Not only is this one of my favorite topics for a bedside read, these books retail at $70 minimum! So what if they were about 7 years old. They were FREE! {I would've even paid for some of them!} I got so excited I literally exclaimed "Get the f**** out of of here, are you serious??!??!?!!" to the elderly couple. [I felt so bad for cursing in front of them but I think they were more amused at my awe than anything else]

I scooped them up like a little girl getting free candy.

What are some things you get excited over that others may pass on as 'ho hum'?

  14. Yeah!  I feel the same way about old physical science books.  I've been known to go without lunch, so I could purchase another used physics or chemistry book.

  15. Basically, anything will get me excited.  I'm easy.

Recently it was marshmallows.  MARSHMALLOWS!!!  Finally.  On Crete.  I had spent 7 years trying to explain to these hillbillies what marshmallows were.  The closest I could come to it was 'styrofoam with sugar.'  They looked at with pity in their eyes, knowing that we Americans ate all sorts of weird toxic stuff.  No matter how I tried to tell them that marshmallows were delicious; you could make smores, rice crispie treats (try describing what a rice crispie treat is...in Greek...there's a challenge)...they wouldn't believe me.

Until a month ago, when the first marshmallow hit our little town.

    Hurray!

  16. I love old books too!  I also love old furniture, clothes, horse tack, Halloween and Christmas decorations.

  17. Flower pots.

I get a little crazy about flower pots in all different shapes and sizes and colors.  I love them.  I have a shed full of them and tend to give houseplants as gifts because of it.

  20. I collect japanese animations and  Sherlock Holmes books.

yes, I know I'm that weird.

  21. I'm a drum and bugle corps fan. I get excited to the point of high geekdom about drum corps competitions. I collect stamps, especially first day covers, and I love it when I find people selling their FDC collections cheap. I also like finding odd items in flea markets, and love thrift store art (the weirder the better). I spend way too much time in flea markets.

  22. I write computer programs and every now and then I encounter a problem that is difficult to solve. When I finally do solve it, I get really excited. I'm marching around the room, punching the air and saying "Yes," but everyone else couldn't care less.

  23. Going to the beach even though its only a half hour away

  24. I am a bit comforted by the fact that I am not the only weirdo out there.  I love classic books.  I have two or more copies of Moby d**k, 1984 and The Grapes of Wrath on the shelf at home because they are good books and because I found them cheap at flea markets or garage sales.

I was an economics major in college, I still get geeked up about macro-economics.  I work for a bank, we hosted a luncheon with a Federal Reserve economist as a speaker.  After lunch he gave a speech about money supply, inflation and worker productivity.  While most of my co-workers were fighting to stay awake I was on the edge of my chair.  I have toyed with the idea of going back to grad school and becoming a professor.  Maybe someday, who knows?

  25. My husbands armpits.

  26. Keeping the Sabbath holy.
