What are some things that you think that made Sailor Moon so famous?

Sailor Moon is MY FAVORITE ANIME EVER !!! it's cute and funny, loveable characters and it's just so charming!! Sorry, i got carried away... ;P

Almost everyone I know who knows about Sailor Moon . Does anyone know why it became so famous?

sailor moon is SO popular because it straddles two common manga genres, magical girl and the team genre. Initially Naoko Takeuchi was specifically interested in the magical girl genre, but later the popularity of the Sailor V manga series inspired her to rework the plot to incorporate nine more magical girls into a team to fight the forces of darkness. Each girl has the ability to morph into a “sailor” superhero named after the planets, or the moon. If you follow the manga, the stories are not always consistent because of this reworking of the plot.Takeuchi has been praised for her “girl power” themes, her inclusion of references to classical greek and roman mythology, and for reintroducing the magical girl theme to manga. She initially planned to produce one story only, but instead ended up producing five different story arcs because of the popularity of Sailor Moon

Well, it's one of the classics, no matter how they old they get, word of mouth still spread them out, especially from those who were already around the time it was first aired. It sort of has gained this 'cult status' (not sure if it's the proper term) that sorta makes it a 'norm' for anime beginners to start with them.

I think every girl wished a talking cat would tell them they were destined to fight against evil, wearing a cool costume and then have a "hot" guy throwing roses come to save you.  And then you turn out to be a princess and the "hot" guy turns out to be a prince and you two were destined to be together since your previous life.  Oh, and all your friends were warriors too.

What girl didn't wish that they were Sailor Moon?  =)

i think it's cuz when ppl think of superheros they think of guyz...2 me this show showed that girls r as good as guyz and r able 2 b heros...like some kids wanted 2 b batman or sipder man.....but girls wanted 2 b sailor moon,jupitor..ect.!!!

well after astro boy sailor moon came near next in line so to me its the heart of all animes because it incorperates all genres in there and there were so much to learn about the planets them and its just amazig tellnig young girls to never give up

the thing why i think it became famous is because of its drawing & story...during those times, anime hasnt really reach its peak & there are no famous animes aside from dragonball.. & sailormoon is one anime which belongs to the maho shojo category.. & we all know that girls love stories about love...

plus mamoru is totally hot..so are the girls!

My assumptions are that it was the best shojo anime ever. It had magic, romance, action, fantasy, and advanture mixed into a great series. It became very popular back in the 90s in Japan. When it came out in America, everyone, including kids, were watching the anime. Its a cute, and an adorable anime that everyone loved. It became a classic shojo anime, and its famous. Its like in the top 5 most watched anime back at that time, besides Card Captor Sakura, Pokemon, Digimon, and Dragon Ball Z.
