  1. girl u can do all kinds of stuff go to puerto san jose , where im from, n youll have fun. u can go on the lanchas and on the motorcycles. if your under 18 puerto san jose is the best place to have fun

  2. Lago Atitlan and the villages surrounding this lake.

Panajachel, Museums in Antigua: colonial art museum, St James Museum,Popenoe House, There are some volcanoes:Volcan Santa Maria, for example.

Quetzaltenango (colonial town), Guatemala City and Tikal (where you can see those Mayan pyramid structures.)

Sightseeing and visiting these places and shopping would be my favorite activities.

  3. And when you done all the thing the other recommended, you should also go to Livingston to see another side of Guatemala. It has a Caribbean atmosphere and it does not feel like you are in Guatemala at all

  4. Go to the market in Chichi......buy a blanket in Momo.

  5. Go shopping!! at Mercado Central in the capital -- several levels of mini shops and practice your haggling skills to get beautiful jewelry, cookware, textiles, crafts etc.  Some stuff was cheaper than the things I got in Atitlan.

  6. I think the best things that you can do are:

-Go to Quetzaltenango (Xela) and enroll in a spanish immersion school.  It costs less than $200 / week for 1 on 1 education, 5 hours a day (m-f). Also included are a family stay and 2-3 meals per day.  my spanish increased greatly.  I went to the Casa Xelaju school (www.casaxelaju.com) and I recommend it.  Many universities will give you credit for attending there.

-Volunteer or patronize Quetzal Trekkers, an organization that offers hikes to nearby volcanos and whose proceeds benefit a school for street children.

-Take side trips to Panajachel and other villages around Lago Atitlan and go to Antigua.  Avoid Guatemala city.

  7. Check out the Inguat video at http://www.atitlan.net/video/inguat-vide... . That covers the country pretty well.

  8. tikal peten, xocomil and xetulul (they're theme parks),antigua, esquipulas.

  9. Semuc Champey is a must. It takes a while to get there, but you won’t be disappointed. I’m planning on going down there this later this year for my 3rd visit. It gets more exciting and beautiful every time. Here are a few places you need to visit.

Lago Atitlan (a lake surrounded by 3 volcanoes. There are several villages around the lake, the main tourist spot is Panajachel. Another is San Lucas Toliman. En route to San Lucas Toliman, you can stop by a hill where the car or anything will roll UPHILL.

Semuc Champey (a series of lagoons formed on a rock ledge over river that goes underground for 1/4 mile).

    Tikal (Mayan Ruins) httphttp://mayaruins.com/tikal.html

    Antigua (Colonial City) http://www.aroundantigua.com

Some other places you may want to go are Puerto Barrios, Rio Dulce, Flores, Peten, Chichicastenango, Lago Izabel, Coban, Monterrico, Quetzaltenango and various places throughout Guatemala City. Enjoy the trip.

While you are going around the country here’s a website for lesser known hotels that are nice cheap stays.
