What are some things to do in Paris for 8-10 year old girls?

We are taking Eurostar over from London for 2 days.

Not much money.

No Disneyland!!!!!!!! We came to Europe for Europe, otherwise we'd stay at home.

The puppet theatre in the Luxembourg Gardens is sure to be a big hit with children this age. The pony rides and the merry go round there are also nice. The marionette shows are fridays, saturdays and sunday.

A the Chateau of Versailles there is a working farm and animals to pet. Actually, I recall that my my own daughter, at age 9, was fascinated by chateau and the concealed doors that are everywhere. She carefully scrutinized every wall looking for them.

While I agree that Disneyland makes no sense there is the Parc Astérix which is very French amusement park based on the adventures of the famous Astérix the Gaul cartoon character. http://www.parcasterix.fr/

At the Centre Pompidou  there is the Galerie des Enfants with interactive exhibitions by designers and artists to introduce children to modern art, design and architecture.

The Jardin des Enfants aux Halles (105 rue Rambuteau Metro:Châtelet-Les Halles)  is a series of cleverly designed fantasy landscapes supervised by professional child-carers. In order to drop off your child, you have to reserve a place an hour or so in advance (tel [phone].). A great way to get some time for yourself secure in the knowledge that your children are being taken good care of.
