What are some things to do in and around Davidson, NC?

In September, I'm going to Davidson, NC to visit Davidson College. Any recommendations of places to visit, places to eat, things to do, etc., so I can get a better feel for the area where I may perhaps be spending the next four years of my life?

Davidson is a pretty little town and it's very bike and pedestrian friendly.  There is a great place to get a hamburger right across from the campus but I can't remember the name of the place.  Davidson is about 20-30 minutes from Charlotte so check    out what is going on in Charlotte.  Lake Norman is close by and there are a few parks with lake access in the area.  There are two malls with in a 20 minute drive.  North Lake at exit 18 on I-77 (Davidson is exit 30) and Concord Mills in Concord.  Concord also is home to Lowe's Motor Speedway and is getting a new water park, there are lots of good places to eat there too..  If you want an amusement park, Carowinds is about 30 miles away at the NC/SC state line.
