What are some things to do/see in Venice?

Question

Next month I'll be flying to germany as part of an exchange program. During that time, my host-family and I will be going to Venice for 3 days (Leaving Friday 13th noon- and coming back the night of the15th). What kinds of things are there to see and do there? My party consists of 17 year old boys and girls and we're open to trying new things.

We really want to actually *do* something, not just sight seeing and shopping. What would you recommend? We don't have a ton of money to spend either.

Take a gondola ride

Feed the pigeons in Saint Mark's Square (only 1 euro a bag for seed! they sell it right there. lol.)

There's a mcdonalds right behind saint mark's square...lol.

Buy a mask!

Take a boat ride to the islands of Murano and Burano, Murano is where they make the awesome glass stuff, and Burano is just a cute little place with lots of shops and multicolored houses!

..and that's all i can think of right now.

Theres always seeing the cathedral and all the sights though.
