I am going on a school trip to San Antonio. I think it's going to be around a 6 hour drive and I was wondering what are some things i can do or buy to use on the road.

buy a portable dvd player, board game, etc.

  1. 4 xanax pills

  2. A portable dvd player would work well. (If you have a laptop computer, it can also serve as a dvd player.) A deck of cards and a paper sack of pocket change works well to pass the time, (dime ante blackjack can keep people busy for hours.) Several variations of poker, can be go on for hours, including, google this one, Liar's Poker.

My mother's game of making a goofy saying out of the license plates of passing cars was an entertaining way to deal with traffic jams. 050DTL becomes "oh, fifty, darn the luck." And trying to decipher what vanity plates say can kill some time. My mother hit me for asking what she made of a plate that had the letters FXU grouped together.

Sleeping passes the miles fairly well. Stay up way late the night before the trip and you'll be able to sleep to the sound of the engine and arrive pretty fresh.

San Antonio's a really neat city with a lot of impressive history. Make a game for on the way and on the way home; (this is an educational thought, but I love travelling,) of comparing pre-trip and post trip notes of who found the most interesting thing.

For example, The Alamo has an exhibit case displaying 1830's vintage cigarettes rolled with corn husks, among many other fascinating objects. And of the few thousand people that wind up in the river on the River Walk every year most jumped in voluntarily. The river is also only 4' deep. In spanish it's "Paseo Del Rio." The LoneStar Brewery is technically the "horniest" place in Texas.

Go to www.texasescapes.com and print out a list of ghost towns that will be on your drive. Compare that to a map and see if you can spot one. My count is 5 along I-10 between Houston and San Antonio, one along I-35.

Depending on where you're coming from, there's a lot to see on the roads that lead to San Antonio. Sometimes looking out the window and seeing things on the side of the road is good way to pass the time.

    Have a good trip,

    D
