What are some things to help someone fall asleep within a half hour?

Im trying to go to bed earlier then usual because im gonna be starting school again. But i never actually fall asleep until like 6 hours later then i want to. Its like im tired but my brain won't fall asleep. I need some tips please!

  1. You need to find something that will get your brain to relax and switch off.  Reading may help as long as the book isn't too interesting/ exciting.  I found the BEST thing is that I play my Nintendo DS;  games like Sims castaway; hotel Dusk etc that don't stimulate the brain too much but enable you to 'switch off' thoughts other than the game.  I usually fall asleep withing 10-15 minutes!  It also works if I wake in the night and can't get back to sleep.

I have found with me that taking a Benadryl capsule 1/2 hour before planning on going to sleep works very well with me.  Now, you have to factor in weight here.  If you are a small person then one (1) capsule is good if you are a large person then two (2) capsules are good.  Take the capsule with warm milk and soon you will be very sleepy.  Also, make sure that this drug which is over the counter does not interact with other medications that you may be taking.  Good Luck !!!!

  4. Try warm milk. If that doesnt work try an over the counter sleep aid, they are quite good. But do not take them too often.
