  1. Chuck has some great advice,

One VERY important item is to note any status lights on the dash that are lit up and remain on.

    ABS

    Service Engine Soon

    Check Engine

    Brake

These items could spell out big repair bills.

As in Pennsylvania, your car will not pass inspection if the Engine light

stays on until the problem is fixed.

  2. It's mpg. It'll probably eat juice being that old. You'll end up paying out the same as you would have buying a more recent Japanese car.

  3. 1. if it has complete maintenance records

    2. if anything has been modified. (ex. suspension, air intake, brakes, etc.)

    3. mileage. it's a ten year old car, if it's too low the odometer might have been tampered, unless the owner has at least 8 cars in his garage.

    4. check the brake discs for deep grooves, these can only be acquired with  hard braking regularly, deep grooves = fast driving = more stress has been

acquired on brakes, suspension, engine, etc.

    5. don't forget to test drive

            a. drive slowly on a gravel road to see if suspension bushings are ok

            b. go fast and run through the gears

    6. if something doesn't feel right, remember that there are a whole lot of other cars for sale out there...

  4. Awesome choice but bring out your piggy bank because you will empty out, but on this car its totally worth it, or is it?

Check out this list of things to check that are common maintenance items on an e36 M3
