I was in Berlin for two days the week before the World Cup &amp; got to experience some neat sights. There&#039;s different sections of town where remains of the Berlin Wall still stand. Also, Checkpoint Charlie is still in existence (one of the only points where one could cross between East &amp; West Germany when the Wall was standing), but it&#039;s just a little stand in the middle of the street with two soldiers there as a photo op. They&#039;ve made it way too touristy in that section because the street is now all &quot;Checkpoint Charlie Gifts&quot; or &quot;Cafe-Point Charlie Restaurant&quot;, etc. As far as historical sights, there is also the remains of a church that was bombed during the Cold War. All that&#039;s pretty much left is the tower that has a large hole in it from the blast. They&#039;ve created a museum of artifacts that remain from the bombing inside the &quot;tower&quot; &amp; you can still see all of the frescos &amp; such. For more commercial sights, there&#039;s KaDaWe, one of the largest department stores in Europe, &amp; the brand new railway station that opened just a few weeks ago.
