I have been snowboarding about 5 times now. I can comfortably traverse on heelside and toeside. I am trying to learn how to link turns now. I am regular footed. I can be on my toeside edge and turn to my heelside edge but when I am on my heelside edge, I am having trouble turning so that I am back on my toeside. For my turns I have been putting weight on my front foot to turn while pushing the board through with my back foot. Is this a proper technique? Is there some more general tips on linking turns?

  1. Your technique sounds pretty good but it might be best to step it back a skill before you get to working your feet too hard.  I worked my way through learning that turn by holding my front arm out pointing at a spot at the edge of the slope while I'm slipping on my heelside.  Then I very slowly swing that arm around to point at a spot on the other side of the slope and if you do that it will bring your shoulders around, your hips, feet and board will follow.

Be very careful to not put pressure on your edges until you've crossed the fall line, doing that early will ensure that you have a nice spill.

Spend some time on a shallow slope easy run and work that out, it should help you.  Have fun!

  2. Use your whole body to turn.

  3. bend your knees and lean forward
