  1. Be sure you have a boat/motor with a lot of power and acceleration

Our family all started from shore with what we called a "hop hop hop!"

Let out a little slack in the rope in shallow water, and let the boat just accelerate. One foot is on the ski, and you "hop hop hop" with the other - and up you go!

Figure on a few (whoa not so fast) but once you're past that it's pure fun.

Then it gets to the point that you'll be sitting around and someone will ask, "Anyone for  "hop hop hop?"

  2. Experience

  3. Try starting with only your front food in the bindings at first.  Once you get that down you can start with both.  Always remember to keep your knees and elbows bent and don't lean foward.

  4. An easy way to learn is to buy a special handle that allows your ski to rest between the two ropes that connect to each side of the handle.  It keeps the ski from moving from side to side when you are getting up. If you dont want to buy a new handle then make sure the rope is opposite of your front foot.  Be sure to keep your knees bent and it is natural to have to hold your breath.  If spray is a problem, wear goggles.  They look stupid but they help.
