I just want to know if there is anything that you (if you are an eagle scout) had to do over, look back upon for a long time, prepare for, etc... thanks in advance!

  1. i have suggestions for ideas for the project. but my brother never made it to eagle so i'm not srue about the process or tips

    here are my ideas.

#1- emergency kits for need/elderly families- collect emergency supplies and the re-closeable cat litter tubs (like scoop away has with the handle) to make emergency kits for needy families and the elderly. many times they don't prepare or keep supplies ready in case of an emergency or natural disaster.

first aid kits, flashlights, batteries, small battery operated radios, bottles of water, maybe a few mre's from the local military recruiters even.

    #2- sports for the needy/underprivileged

collect gently used sporting equipment/camping supplies etc

for needy kids, church groups etc-

they can be donated to the groups or see if you can coordinate a lend return program- if a group of church kids wants to go camping they sign out x equipment and return it by # day, etc

    #3 bring music back-

collect musical instruments, sheet music, supplies, cds etc for needy/underprivileged, church groups, community centers or schools

    #4 childrens stuff swap meet-

people bring items to donate to the swap. names ph #s and items will be documented. each person gets a ticket (like the tear off raffle tickets) to use to trade items on the day of the swap meet. donated items will not be returned. anything left after the swap meet goes to goodwill or church charities or homeless shelters. here is a more detailed how to...

    Items

the public will be encouraged to donate clothing, shoes, books, toys, and decortative items that are in good condition. Anything that is stained, torn, or unuseable will not be credited with a coupon. This screening in necessary to ensure that an individual donating items will at least have the chance to redeem thier coupons for items of similar qualitiy.

    Staff

use other boyscouts or family members. try to use at least 10 persons. Each volunteer will be responsible for manning their table or area. As "shoppers" pick up items they will turn in coupons for the items in that area to the volunteer.

    Calendar of Events (example only)

April 1-30th First day of donations collected

    May 1 Donated items sorted

May (some date after sorting clothing)

mail out or have the donators come pick up their tickets for the swap meet.

All Childrens items will be accepted such as clothing, educational material (books, tapes, etc.), toys, decorations, and small furniture.

Items must be clean, without extreme wear, tears, markings, or holes.

No items can be returned after donation for any reason. All donations are non-returnable, there will be no exceptions!

Tickets are redeemable at the designated time and day of the swap meet only and are non-refundable.

Any unclaimed swapped will be taken as soon as possible to sheltrers, good will or church charities

Items selected are on an "AS IS" basis, no returns or exchanges accepted.

    Tickets

Each item accepted will earn the donator one ticket.

Tickets are good for one time only, non-refundable, and unreimberseable.

At the time of the swap meet tickets will be retained by volunteers to be turned into to you at the end.

    Volunteers

All volunteers are encouraged to be members of your troop or family members.

Volunteers may donate items and recieve tickets just like everyone else.

All volunteer tickets must be used one hour prior to the opening of the event.

  2. Hello CrazyTrojanFan:

Keep accurate records, and keep proof that you have earned all the merit badges. Contact your council service center and ask for a printout of your records of merit badges and award of rank from Scout to Life. Verify that their records match yours. If there are any discrepancies, get them cleared up before you submit your application.

When filling in your application, be as complete as possible, and have the documentation to support the application (e.g., merit badge cards, letters of recommendation, proof of Scoutmaster conference and BOR's.

Don't skimp or cut corners; do everything that is required, and be truthful.

Follow the application packet (you can download one from http://www.nesa.org) and you will be fine.

Remember to formally thank those who helped you along the way.

    Keep on Scoutin'
