We're planning a road trip to San Luis Obispo for Labor Day weekend. What are some fun things to do and stop at along the way on Highway 101. I heard about Solvang, what else is there? And also what are fun things to do in SLO?

  1. Wine tasting.

  2. you have have have to stop at pea soup anderson's restaurant in santa nella. you can't miss it, it's the one with the big windmill.

  3. You've got to go see the elephant seals. They are just about a mile north of Hearst Castle-definitely worth the drive!

We loved eating at McClintocks Steak house in Pismo Beach-loud but great food and huge portions. Dinner even comes with a liquor for dessert and onion rings for an appetizer.

Solvang-IMHO-is not worth the side trip. Just a lot of tourist junky shops.

Good, easy hikes at Montano Del Oro State Beach.

    Enjoy your trip!!

    Best of Luck to You!

  4. Santa Barbara-State Street: Shops and restaurants galore, and State Street ends right at the beach. Shopping, food, and the beach: What could be more perfect? Maybe a Corona. And if you do imbibe, they have a shuttle bus to take you up and down the street.

Solvang: Ya, for sure, doze little Danish shops are MIGHTy cute. Get yerselv an Abelskeever, it's-a shore delicous.

Pismo Beach: Splash Cafe has excellent clam chowder. Cool little beach town.
