  1. Black Beans and Rice. You can buy Black Beans in almost any store.  Heat it up and throw some garlic in. Mince up some green onion and hard-boiled egg (just a little) to put on top of it all. Broiled fish with butter and garlic is good to have on the side as well.

  2. My favorites are:

Cuban Sandwich; made with real Cuban Bread, not that junk some places try to pass-off as Cuban Bread.

    Chicken or Pork Adobo

    Costillitas (Baby Back Ribs)

    Boliche (Roast Pork)

Black Beans (Frijoles N*gros) & Rice; I prefer Spanish rice

(made with saffron) to white rice.

Deviled Crabs (the only thing I eat hot sauce on!)

Pastillitas ( a pastry) I love the guava & cream cheese filled)

    Rum Flan

    Rice Pudding

I'm not Cuban, but I did grow up close to Ybor City (near Tampa, FL), and developed a taste for many Cuban dishes, at an early age.

None of today's chains can hold a candle to the Silver Ring, the Spanish Park, the Columbia, Las Novedades, The Old Fort, and the Seabreeze Restaurants!!

Those were, truly, the "good old days"!!

And, for the record, a Spanish onion will beat the h**l out of a Vidalia onion, any day of the week!
