Around Dublin is kinda a big place.

I would recommend south side, but again a big place.

Anywhere in particular in mind? How far from town? Travel links?

This is right up any surgeons street. Located near Portmarnock beach. You would be near a golf links too. A number of  TV personalities live around Portmarnock.

The main areas barrister or surgeon like to live in and around Dublin are:

From the south working north:

Killiney - (where Bono etc. hang out)

Dalkey

Dun Loaghaire

Monstown

Blackrock

Ballsbridge - also known as Dublin 4 or D4, this is full of barristers.

Then north of the river Liffey:

Howth

You'll notice most of these places are along the coast.

Make no mistake, it's expensive to get a large house in any of these places....or a regular size house for that matter.

many in your choosen profession, buy a plot of land, and have there crofts, or bunglows built, have ye not considered this factor, well its worth flying over  and making enquiries and if you have the money placing a deposit, getting a architect and get it built, that way the land is your own and your house  some areas are green belt there, but its worth considering!!!!!??

The most expensive property tends to be within a couple of miles of the coast, so to the East of the city. Very high end property County Dublin is Killiney and Dalkey, and the Embassy belt (Dublin 4) close to the city centre.

Mind you, this doesn't really mean anything. Anyone who bought property in the late 1980s in Dublin city or county and who held onto it is laughing - you need to be a millionaire to be able to buy within 50 miles of Dublin city centre these days.
