What are some unusual wines?

Many edibles can be fermented into a wine, most notably the fruits. Wines can be made from grape of course, but also blueberries, blackberries, elderberry and even (the non-fruit) dandelion! What are some strange wines that you might have tried, or come across in your travels?

  1. Strawberry wine is produced here in the Philippines, specifically in Baguio...

    I found mango wine in some grocery here too!

    In my college days we made Guava, Tomato, Pineapple and Orange Wine for our FooD Tech class...

    Tomato was the best for me =)


  2. In Asia there is a lot of wine produced  from different fruits and vegetables. One of the most popular one is rice wine. Then the mangoosteen wine. This is also a good source of anti oxidant.The Chinese had the wine made of plums.It is very popular and they used them in chinese cooking. in the Far east they have the coconut wine, wine from sugar cane and mangoes.

  3. If it isn't made from grapes (vinifera, specifically) I don't really consider it true wine.

    Gilroy, Ca has a garlic wine available.  Haven't tried it.  Don't plan to.

  5. Honestly, any wine made from anything other than grapes is gross. But, I am a wine snob.

  7. olalaberry wine is absolutely delicious it is a sweet kind of desert wine and  is very different.
