  1. There is nothing wrong with mixing protein and starch.  Give up your food combining hooey or at least don't force it on your kids.

Now, check out the Vegan Lunchbox blog. It's a blog done by a SAHM about lunches she prepares for her school-age son and rates how much he likes them.  If you like her ideas, she has published a cookbook based on recipes on the blog.

  2. Here are some GREAT lunches that meet your criteria

Veggie sandwich ( tomatoes pickles lettuce etc)

    Fresh fruit

    water

Grapes and apples with walnuts on top

    yogurt

    water

    Toasted bread

    fresh grapes

    water

    SLiced bread

    carrots and celery

    water

    Yogurt and granola

    fresh fruit

    Water

    Salad

    nuts

    water

THis is Most deffinetly the BEST way to feed you children my kids are fed this way to!!

    Sure hope this helps!

  3. I hope that there is some medical reason for you feeding your children a vegan diet.....

They need protein and should be having all food groups....

You should not enforce your beliefs on the children, unless it is medically related....

Let them eat a variety of foods and have a healthly body.....

also all vegan food I have seen in vegan shops looks old and yuck!!!!

  4. What's your reasoning for not mixing protein and starches?  Children need both for growth, and though I think raising your kids vegan is fine, you're going to leave their immune systems weak if they don't get enough proteins, fats and starches.  I would recommend reading a couple of books before embarking on a diet such as this or seek the advice of a nutritionist.

  5. Are you talking about complex carbs? There is no protein in vegans diet.

There t certain amount of carbs in about everything some have more than others. I would feed them close to what I would feed them if they were home. You could prepare their lunches on that day and take them to school at lunch time.

  6. a really great site that can help you out on this that is amazing when it comews to having all links for vegetarians and vegans is http://veggielinks.com/

    http://veggielinks.com/vegankids.html

its amazing and very helpful the links they have put up for vegan kids and it even talks about what candies they can eat

    http://veggielinks.com/vegancandy.html

you shuld be able to get TONS of ideas that will statisfy your children and will never get bored

  7. First, ignore all the other comments about not making your kids vegan.

I have a friend born and raised vegan and she is healthier then anybody else in the school. Just make sure that they follow the pyramid. http://www.chooseveg.com/vegan-food-pyra...

Second, you did mix protein and starch and there is nothing wrong with that.

Oh and pb&j on whole wheat is great. Just make sure the stuff your buying is vegan of course.

  8. I'm a vegan teen I have packed lunches. I usually have a raw salad with pepper, carrots grapes etc. for snacks I take raisinsor other dried fruit like fruit flakes (tescos) or snack packs of nuts, especially almonds. Most schools do jacket potatoes, and you can just ask for no dressing.

  9. what do you mean you don't mix protein with starches? hummus=protein, whole wheat pita=starches.
