I use this site all the time. It's filled with all kinds of ideas and information. You are smart to be trying to educate yourself on what is the healthiest for you body and soul. I would also recommend talking to a nutritionist or even the nurse at your school for more advice. They can help you figure out how much protein you should be getting and where you can get it from.

You should try to find a natural foods store in your area. They have tons of things there, and cater more to vegans and vegitarians than a regular supermarket. Also, if you live near any Stop & Shops, they offer free classes on healthy eating including a few designed specifically for vegitarians and vegans.

The easiest thing that I have found is just using regular recipies but replacing the meat or cheese with a soy product. They make soy into all sorts of crazy things that resemble everything from ground "beef" to "cheese." Good luck and stay healthy!

  2. youl need 4 tomatos,1 onuion,2 pack of lettios, selory & cucumbers/w ranch &a bole. Now cut the tomato up in little pecious put that  in the bole get your lettious out now if your handse are clean just rip it up with them now cut the celory, onuion& cuecumber up now put it all in the bole and put some ranch inthe salid then wala you just made the Yasha salid.

  3. First of all, I think you are misreading that passage in the bible. Its only certain body parts you cant eat.

Going veggie is a healthy idea. Some good recipes:

    Meatless Spaghetti:

Boil spaghetti and drain, add your favorite spaghetti sauce, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.

(The carbs in the pasta is great for athletes.)

    Cheese Pizza:

Just order some pizza w/o meat, its really yummy. Dont forget a salad on the side.

    (Good carbs)

    Meatless Chili:

Heat up Ranch Style Beans. Add chopped green peppers, chopped tomatoes, onions, a little garlic, salt and pepper.

(The beans give you the protein and fiber you need)

  4. salad yum!:-)

  5. heyy, i'm vegetarian and i totally support you becoming one too. i'm just a little confused, cause didn't Jesus have a lamb slaughtered once to eat with his friends? and he gave out fish to all those people.

  6. Protein is probably the easiest part of becoming a vegetarian. There are nut butters like peanut, cashew and almond. Rice, almond or soy milk. Beans in burrittos, bean salads, tofu can be made into mock egg salad.  Use bean and corn mix on a Mexican salad with cheese and tomatos. It takes a little more time to incorporate whole grains into your diet. Plus getting all the fruits and veggies into your diet. Bring home big bags of apples and/ or oranges ( they hold great in the fridge) and pack them with you every day. Strawberries and grapes are more delicate. Hit the Farmer's Mkt. ask for recipes for fruits and veggies that you like. Goggle recipes for some of your favorite foods.

  7. Well, I'm glad you said calories not protein :) it means you did your research! As for calories there are plenty of high calorie veg foods (i'd try googaling them). Complex carbs are important too. Also, remember (I know this sound obvious, but some new veg*ns have issues with this) WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY: EAT! Vegies have less calories so you may need to eat MORE! Ok ... THAT'S out of the way ...

"www.vegweb.com" (i hope I typed that right ... lol ...) has a ton of good recipies. I'm actualy a 14 year old vegan myself (vegetarian since I was 10 and vegan only reciently)

Also Compassionate Cooks (in the list below) has recipe packets.
