What are some vice/foible seems to you to be the bane of humanity?

Materialism. That driving hunger force to have all the latest, newest and best. Videos, iPods, cars, televisions, etc.,

   Heard the other day that people purchased over 1 billion dollars worth of "ringtones" last year !!!!!!  Thats more than the economy of a lot of 3rd world countries.

The lack of self-restraint and personal responsibility.  Its a moral dilemma.  So many today seem to have the attitude that they can do whatever without concern for or without even considering the consequences for themselves and others.  Then when the consequences cause some kind of grief for them, they expect others and/or society to bail them out and solve their problems and feel they have been wronged if they actually have to face the consequences of their decisions.  A good example is the foreclosure crisis.  People bought homes they had no business buying in the first place and then when a glitch occurs and they can't make the payments the banks should come along and bail them out.  I was taught and have always practiced not buying more home than I could safely afford.  Never missed a payment  and never worried about not being able to pay.

'Me first' and 'I want one too', I think.

You don't deserve everything in the world, no matter what daddy tells you, and you're not always going to be first in line. Either learn to work harder or be happier with what you have.

This goes for six year olds and sixty year old quasi-dictators alike.
