  1. You can practice hitting the ball against the wall, bumping, digging, serving. Practice your aim and form. Also make sure you stay fit, condition, stretch, and do different strengthening excercises. Here are some tips on form and playing... My hs has its own volleyball website that has tips and techniques. Here is the link http://www.partnersforhealthykids.com/VB...

It really is helpful, most of playing is techniques.

    Have fun =D

  2. I played volleyball for Michigan State University and here are a few pointers or tips I can offer:

    1) find a wall and practice (lightly) your spiking form.  Stand about 5-8' away from the wall and aim about 1' in front of the wall.  Don't pound the spike like you're planning on winning the gold, worry more about your form.  If you do it right, the ball should hit the ground, then the wall and come right back.  And make sure to get your wrist over the ball as you hit to give you the best possible topspin.  This will really really help your form for spikes.  After that, all you'll have to do is work on your jump timing.

    2) this isn't so much an exercise as it is a muscle strengthener.  Face the wall and put your heel as close to the wall as you can with your toes touching the wall.  Your foot should be 45 degrees or more with the wall.  Now try and hug the wall.  You should feel a stretch in your achilles tendon.  Do this several times a day for 3-5 minutes at a time.  It will strengthen your achilles tendon which will increase your jump height tremendously.

    3) Practice your setting.  Stand with your feet firm on the ground and shoulder width apart.  Look straight up and touch the ball to your nose.  Now "set".  Start by setting it a few feet above your head and worry more about keeping the ball directly above you than height.  Once you get comfortable setting the ball clean and straight, work on setting it higher while maintaining cleanliness and straightness.  If done right, you should never have to move your feet.  The key with this exercise is to learn better ball control.  If you can do this exercise frequently and competently, you will find that putting the ball at any height, location, or distance is no problem at all.

    I hope these help!
