My 12 month old has a fever of 102 and he has a runny nose. Its almost 2 am and I was wondering what are some ways I can get him more comfortable. I already took him a bath, but what else can I do?

  1. Poor baby.

I can only suggest the same as the other mommies have, so I'll spare you the time to read it. Just wanted to wish you good luck and I hope you will both manage to get some sleep tonight.

  2. motrin is the answer...my sister gives it to her babies all the time

and sometimes, she'd take them to her bed and lie down with them and make sure they take a nice long sleep. with a cool cloth on the head, of course.

if it gets bad just call the doctor.

  3. keep a cool wash cloth on his forehead

  4. A doc once told me that the only way babys can regulate the temp is through there skin so just cause your lil one has a temp, dont strip them down to nothing. make sure they keep some clothes on

  5. if u have cold steamer put it for him, put cold cloth on his forehead, give him a dose of baby tylenol , let him drink a lot and most of all give him a lot of love... good luck and g-d bless

  6. Tylenol to keep it down. Make sure he is dressed lightly, but has a blanket close in case he gets cold chills. Cool washcloth on his forehead, fan.

  7. alternate every 4 hours with tylenol and motrin.  put a little vicks on his chest to kill the runny nose. other than that, there really isnt much that you can do.  just let him know that you are there and prepare for a long sleepless couple of nigts.  i wish that there was a quick fix but until his fever breaks, poor thing is just going to be miserable.  good luck,

  8. Poor little guy!  My little one has had a few fevers lately so I asked the same question of my doctor. He responded that there's no need medicate for a fever unless your baby is in pain. You can dress your baby in lighter clothes (depending on the weather of course) and give him paracetamol if it still won't come down. Sounds like you're already doing a good job. Good luck!

  9. Turn a fan on next to him, put a cool rag on the back of his neck and give him a cool drink. lots of snuggles and perhaps sleep in the chair with him if you have a comfy one to do so in. That way he can breathe easier. Did you give him baby tylenol?

  10. give him motrin and use a humidifier. You should alternate the motrin with tylenol. Have him sleep propped up too. If you have some vicks rub some on his chest and under his nose. Hope this helps!

  11. plenty of fluids to drink. dont strip him down too much, because then his body will get cold and in efforts to get his temp. back up, his fever will get worse. put him in light clothing, with a light blanket and get a washcloth damp with lukewarm water and pat his forehead and cheeks with it. give him baby tylonal and keep monitering him. if it gets any higher, call your dr. because if it gets too high, it can cause brain damage. they'll probalbly suggest plenty of fluids and light clothing. but just keep watching him. if he's very fussy, I would just call and see if they think you should take him to the ER.
