I made green beans for a funeral lunch today, and I'm wondering if there are ways to use this giant can in the garden somewhere?

  1. I agree with escapee.  Mint, yarrow, and catnip are a few plants that are fun to have, but will spread like crazy if you don't restrain them.  By planting them in the can and then burying the can about half-way into the garden, you can help contain the plants while still enjoying them in the garden, rather than in a pot.

  2. Punch holes in it in a pattern and put a citronella candle in it.  Looks neat with the light shining through and helps keep bugs away.

  3. I use larger cans as planters. You can paint them if you like or rub them with steel wool for a brushed finish, or if you really don't want to go through the work to disguise them, you can plant them right along with the plant. That will also assure that whatever you planted stays where you plant it and not spread. If you have a few, or several cans, you can make a grouping of them so your flowers or whatever you plant in them show off in different heights.

    Hope this helps!
