What are some ways i could help with the issues in Africa?

also can anyone explain why the situation is occuring?

as for helping out i am a teen so it cant be an option for adults.

Good for you for wanting to help out Africa. It sounds like you don't know much yet about Africa, so your first step is to get an education about what different issues are going on in Africa. A lot of foreigners who wanted to "help" Africa without bothering to first understand it have ended up making situations worse. It is a very diverse continent, with 54 different countries. Each country has its own issues, and many countries have actually made a great deal of progress in terms of their governments and economies in the past few years.

There are a lot of great books about Africa, but a few I'd recommend are:

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (a novel that will help you understand how the slave trade started to make Africa fall apart)

King Leopold's Ghost (a fantastic non-fiction book that talks about how people in the Congo were treated)

I recommend reading the website for Oxfam America (www.oxfamamerica.org) to see how you can help them. They are doing fantastic work across the continent, and in other parts of the developing world. They also have some programs for teenagers who are interested in getting involved with their organization, so they might be a good bet for you.

I contribute to the VSO  They do a great job by supplying doctors, education and much more helpful aid to people in very underprivaleged parts of africa, and are an entirely non profit, voluntary organisation. Any contribution to their funds helps a lot.

Tell your parents not to buy diamonds.  The working conditions in the mines are inhumane.  

Until the corrupt governments are overthrown, little can be done.  Donated goods and food intended to be given away free of charge to the needy are frequently stolen by officials and resold on the black market.  The massive amounts of money generated by selling off natural resources never makes to down to the needy.

Their most significant issues are caused by overpopulation, so anything you can do to reduce that, like contributing your allowance to groups who teach about birth control, is about the only was I see of anyone doing anything truly helpful.

join the relief effort either religious or UN type...volunteer to go at once and spread the good works...staying over here and talking about it is counterproductive...they need bodies and you will do well there...
