I am an American Muslim-convert (born Christian). This may be my first year celebrating Ramadan & I was just wondering what I can do to decorate besides hanging lights. Since this year Ramadan is Sept.24-Oct. 23. it will be Autumn (I live in New York). Ideas welcome! Thanx!

  1. Growing up, I have never ever 'decorated' for Ramadan.  I don't know any Muslim family that does that either.  It's mostly a month that focuses on faith not material stuff.

  2. hmmm ! we dont really decorate it, just make sure your house is EXTRA clean so that you dont have to do much hard work whilst fasting

    salaam

  3. We don't decorate for Ramadan. Keep your focus on fasting and Pleasing Allah. If you have to decorate, buy balloons and party hats, along with a pumpkin and christmas tree.

  4. welcome to ISLAM my sister

  5. I have seen people put green and white lights, hang banners, make a ramadan chain (and take a link off every day), etc.

  6. Burn some Incense Sticks !

Anyways I have never seen Any such Thing as Ramadan Decoration ! BUt there are Certain shops that Sell Ramadan Ballons,Banners, Plates and CUps ! But very rear !

  7. Balloons are a must.

  8. balloons and lights outside your house =D i know ppl who put up xmas lights during ramadan. looks quite nice =)

  9. Hmmm I've never decorated before, but I wanted to since last year! My friend decorated her house a bit last year as Eid was approaching. I think you should use streamers. No one really decorates for Ramadan, but I think it is a good thing b/c you are taking time out to please Allah swt by making your house clean and look extra beautiful for the month of Ramadan. Also whenever you look at the decorations you are reminded that this is a holy month, along with your hungry stomach :) but I still think there is nothing wrong with decorating. Balloons won't last a month...lights, streamers, banners, you could make a big sign that says "Ramadan" on it, I've never seen them at the store before...just go to Party City or Party America. Hope your first Ramadan goes well inshallah!

  10. Welcome to Islam and congratulation

If u want to decorate Ur house, you may decorate it with all good deeds in this holly month, un seen decoration which no body can see it except Allah.  Decorate it with good quality of Salah (prayer) good quantity of Zeker (remembrance of Allah )  decorate it with lots of recitation of holly Quraan  and lots of Nawafils extra prayers like Tahajjud Tarawih Qeyam ...

With lots of Ebadah your house will shine and will covered with the blessing of Almighty Allah

Then at Eid day you may decorate it as u like but not lavishly.

May Allah give us Tawfeeq (opportunity ) to worship him as hi like (In advance Ramadan Mubarak )
