  1. tell your daughter that she's a big girl and she should be able to hold her own cup. let her practice with a sippy cup and put her in a high chair so that she can practice sitting up.

  2. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    1. Don't let her lay down and drink a bottle.  It can cause ear infections b/c of the negative pressure created.

    2. Use feeding time as a time of cuddling with your baby...not for teaching independence.

    3. Get your baby a sippy cup  or other cup with handles and put some water in it.  Allow your baby to practice drinking from it on her own.

You said, "Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!"

  3. something that has worked for me in the past is to hold her hands on the bottle while feeding her the bottle. but as i see in your question, she is already able to hold it herself from a laying down position, i'd just let her keep on doing that.

she'll sit up with it when she's ready :)

since she knows how to hold it laying down, she can do it sitting up. Perhaps you could offer her a half filled bottle when she's sitting up so it's not so heavy (and then put in the other half when it's empty)???

  4. put her hands on the bottle and just keep doing that and say encouraging things like "Ok time to hold your own bottle sweetie"

    Is she your first?

  5. How old is she? I know it would be easier for her to hold her own but feedings are a really special bonding time. Don't rush they are only this little once :)

There is no need to get upset! There are really no ways to encourage it she will hold the bottle sitting up when she is ready :)
