Try a wire hanger. Pull it into an oval shape, leaving the hook to use as a hanger. Wrap plastic wrap around the oval frame. Glue items (macaroni, yarn, buttons, play-doh, etc.) onto the plastic to represent organelles. The transparent plastic represents the cytoplasm and the wire frame represents the cell membrane. Works great if you're okay with a 2-dimensional representation.

you could use a pizza and use different toppings..kinda what i did. accept we used random toppings that did not make it eatable afterwards

At first I thought you were asking how to make a real cell...

ANYWHO: When I had to do that project in grade 9 I hollowed out a melon and used the rind for the cellular membrane. Then I filled it with jello for the cytoplasm. Finally, I used various candies for the organelles. Nerds make good ribosomes. It was a fun way to do the project because I got to eat it all afterward.
