  1. If you need to practice your approach, draw a 10-ft line and do it. If you need to test your wrist, swing at your door frame (don't tell your parents I said it), like what I did at my dorm.

By the way, spiking is all about contact, and making decisions before contacting the ball. You'd better get a real ball with the right size.

  2. just try doing it, like pingpong-balling it. if that makes sense. like when you have a paddle and ball and you just try to hit it up and down with your paddle.. same thing but with your hands/arms and the volleyball.

  3. Just practice your aproach over and over and over again. It sounds boring but it helps. If you need help on your vertical do your approach with ankle weights on. To get the feel of the ball on your hand, just bounce in like your dribbling it but with an open palm slap.

  4. Try hitting the ball at the wall? Hit the ball, bounces off the wall and comes straight back to you.

  5. I do this. First I hit it up to myself. Just bump straight up and down. Bump high and low. Then I bump against a sloped roof. It makes you learn to judge where the ball's going to go and how ard to hit it. If you can't hit it against a roof, I wall works just as well.

  6. A simple drill that me and my friend, who is a setter do is almost like peppering but she sets the ball and i hit it straight down. it helps the topspin and gets your wrist to snap

  7. Well you can use a shed, clothes line, or swing set to hit over. Or if you have a side walk out side of your house then you could drop the ball, hard enough that it will come waist high, and hit it down again (hard as you can, it should go above your head) and wait for it to go up and down and then when it comes back up hit it again. Just keep doing that. If you have steps out side of your house, like I do, I hit the ball aiming at the top and front point of the step to get it to bounce back (standing about 10 feet back) at me. Or I hit the ball at the bottom of the set of steps so it will roll back to me. There are many creative things that you can do... you could even get one of those ball return things for soccer and hit at that. I even stand on my front porch, one story house, and hit set and pass the ball onto my roof and let it roll back down and do that again... ask before you do this though.

To practice my approach without a volleyball I estimate a 10 ft line and approach and swing and aim to slap above my door frame... my parents are pretty good about letting me practice just as long as I don't break any thing.

  8. wall-pepper.

find a flat wall and drive the ball to the ground to where after it hits the ground, it hits the wall, and comes back to you where you can continuously swing.

this will work on your arm swing and snapping your wrist.
