Question:

What are some ways to provide for a person in your will who can't quite handle things on their own?

I am not talking about someone with Down Syndrome or anything like that.

I am referring to the type of person who would manage to s***w everything up buy not paying property taxes, therefore losing the property he inherited.

One idea is for him to co-own with his siblings not only his house, but the rent house as well. And the property taxes on all houses would be paid (by the executor) before the profits are given to the siblings.

Or trust funds for his kids, instead of him inheriting them outright.

Any other ideas?

  1. You can go to a lawyer, sometimes for a small fee, and you can select a trusted person to become that person's guardian, who will manage the funds to make sure that all is well and handled properly. You can overwrite a will by making some stipulations about how the guardian will handle the person's inheritance. Also, check out Channel 13, Houston, Texas's  ABC news affiliate because a lawyer from the University of Houston always answers legal questions for free on the web. I forgot the link, but just use the search engine for that channel, and I'm sure it'll pop up. That lawyer also has a section of legal questions/answers in the newspaper. Just check it out.

  2. I sugggest going to a lawer, but i dont know much about those things, you can tell becasue i am spelling lawer  wrong.

  3. You need a lawyer to set up a trustee for the money, with specific instructions, an executor etc.

After that, you can't really control things from the grave....
