  1. get him a jolly ball or a companion

  2. Jolly balls-some horses love em and some don't. My horse never really palyed with his. I think the best thing to keep them entertained is to put a jolly ball treat holder or better known as a "l**k it" it's like this flavored treat thing that they have to l**k. You can hang it from the stall so it makes it more challenging for them to l**k and you can buy replacemetn treats when you run out

    horses love them

  3. the way i keep my horse entertained is i give her a jolly ball and i made a hook with a ball on it she has alot of fun.. i would like it if my horse was in its natural habitat though out in the pasture but shes very old soo thats why we keep her inside... have you asked the barn manager or if you have your own stable to build turnout stalls the barn i stay at has turnout stalls and the horses love going out.

  4. There are many options that help with boredom but if your horse is not interested in the toys then it is a waste of money.

    A few options are:

Jolly balls.  I have seen half and half with this toy.  Some horses get really into them while others could care less.

the l**k-it and l**k-it boredom breaker.  This is a treat you can hang in the stall.  Just make sure its not in a corner otherwise your horse can push it up against the wall and eat the treat in minutes.  This one seems to work well with most horses and it comes in many different flavors.

Pony pops are a favorite.  Its basically a sweet feed compressed very tightly into a cylinder that is about 3 inches thick with a hole in the middle.  Easy to hang and last longer then the l**k its.  Or you can buy the holder for it, but its pricy.

Uncle jimmy's hangin balls.  Same concept as the pony pops but compressed into a ball with a string already attached.  My horse loves these but he does get molasses on his nose when he plays.

Amazing graze (I think thats the name) or the Snack a ball by l**k it.  They are toys the horses roll around that you put treats in.  I know one horse who loves this and plays for hours.

You can always toss an extra flake of hay to them as well to help with boredom.  I prefer a grass hay.

A companion is helpful too but sometimes too difficult to have.

You can find all the toys mentioned online.  Marys Tack and Feed always has them in stock and usually ship within the day too.

  5. I hear salt licks, jolly balls, or even a companion animal works.. Some people use those, some people play music for their horses. =)  Depends on the barn, and taste I suppose

  6. playing music/ radio, hay, salt l**k, ice block, fan, jolly whatever, window, buddy, even a portable tv.

  7. I've used most of the balls, chew and roller toys, and some of my own inventions over the years.  I can't say that I believe any of them made much difference.  They did relax more in front of a fan...they like the relief and the noise soothes them, I believe. Even a small box fan can do the trick, and they like it almost year round....not just in summer.  Some like a mirror, but some get excited seeing themselves and it doesn't calm them down at all.

  8. get him a toy, but change it every so often

  9. make sure he always has something to munch on, horses are grazers... also ive heard of jolly-balls... make sure they have proper supplements if they are being stalled all the time... if you can get him time in a pasture do so!

  10. toys, snacks, salt licks, maybe a an open door or window in where you horsey can see whats going on outside

aslo i have found that when stalled horses can see other horse in the other stalls they stay calmer and relaxed

  11. ..sounds like a howrse question to me
