  1. support from family and friends. maybe go to your pastor/reverend/priest if your into that, never helped me, but it has others. just kno now is not the end, the past is past, the present is now and we race to meet the future head on. talk to people, write out your feelings(then burn it if you wish)

  2. Antidepressant medications.  They can and do save lives.  And a good number of them are available from Wallmart at the cost of $4.00/ 30 day supply.  Antideps work faster and have a higher success rate than "talk therapy".

Left untreated, the depression will physiologically alter the sufferer's brain.  Depressive episodes will become more frequent, last longer and be deeper.  Its stupid to let this happen, especially since it can be avoided with drug therapy.

  3. Structure your time to do meaning less or meanign full activities that require physical work for the entire waking hours.  The rest of the time you should drop dead sleep in your bed with fatigue.  A weak of this and you are alright once again.

  4. Find him/her something to do with his/her time.

Exercise is a good option. Specially if he/she does it with another person.

  5. find a hobby or sport you like doing. ik when i play tennis or basketball, all my problems drift away

  6. depends on what your depressed about.

I'd try volenteering, there's nothing better than the feeling of helping people, and it will take your mind of whatever is bothering you

  7. For most people depression is relieved with talk therapy and medication.

Make an appointment with your primary care doctor, and don't say you can't afford one! If you don't have insurance, you should be able to see someone at a hospital clinic, etc. A primary care physician should rule out other medical conditions that could be causing your depression, and treat those, as well. Ask your doctor about a referral to a therapist at a reduced rate.

You may also be able to afford a therapist at a reduced rate. Most family therapy organizations (Lutheran Services, etc.) receive money from United Way, and this money goes to reducing the fees for people unable to pay full rate. Check into that, and also if you are near a university that offers a social work degree, or a masters in counseling, etc., the graduates need clinical hours and usually see patients under supervision of the school for reduced rates.

Check around see if you can't find a therapist you can afford. The recovery rate is best with therapy, so see what you can find for yourself. The longer the depression is untreated, the harder it can be to find relief.

  9. first try to find out why you depress, and love yourself(you probably thinking easier than done) well I know you wouldn't want some doctors prescribing meds to you and you would think you are crazy for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. so don't go that route dream, write, sing, smile listen to music.

listen to songs that you can relate to for instance like MUSIC. MUSIC CAN HELP FOR REAL

  10. Since you said teen, I'm assuming this teen goes to school? Usually there is some type of counselor at the school that may help or be able to recommend a place to go or person to see. I'd start there.
