  1. Turn the lights off when your not using them, install energy efficient light bulbs, use energy efficient appliances (saves money in the long run).  Also, turn down your heater a couple degrees, and use air conditioning a little less.  You should also try to turn off appliances and electronics your not using (ie the radio, your computer, etc).  You know, the basics...

  2. We bought a new energy efficient fridge, our old one totally died.  We cannot believe the huge difference on our electric bill.  Seriously, if a person can afford one it is really worth it.  Also, thermal pane windows help keep the house warmer/cooler.  Also, I like to cook with a crockpot as often as I can so I don't have to use the big gas oven.

  3. Here are just a few of many, some general every day tips:

    -Switch to florescent light bulbs

-Turn off lights/television/radio/et cetera when you leave a room

-Lower your thermostat in the winter, raise it in the summer

-Don't drink bottled water, drink tap (filter it if you have to)

-Buy local (first) and organic (second) produce

    -Use a check/credit/debit card instead of cash/check

-Invest in your own reusable grocery/shopping bags

-Use tupperware instead of plastic zip lock bags

-Hang clothes to dry instead of using the dryer

    -Hand-wash dishes

    -Invest in energy-saving appliances

-Unplug things that you don't use for long periods of time

-Use "green" surface cleaners, soaps, shampoos/conditioners

  4. Eliminate phantom electric loads.  This is easy to do. First one can make all your outlets switched. So when you leave a room just turn everything off.  Test all your stuff for phantom loads with this cheap meter.

  5. We bank snow around the foundation and that keeps the cold winter wind from making the floors so cold and saves on the heating bill.

  6. well if u have a T.V turn it off when not using and anything else that envolves elecritcity!

  7. First of all, change all lightbulbs to more efficient lightbulbs.

Also, if you REALLY want to go green, get energy efficient appliances, like refridgerators and washing machines. These, however, cost a lot of money. You can also save a lot of energy by simply turning off lights when you leave the room, using a fan instead of air conditioning, keeping the heat down to about 65 degrees, and taking short showers instead of baths.
