  1. Take Bus or train or share the ride with neighbor

  2. You can do a couple things.

First, you can carpool and split the bill

Second, you can go to a smaller town to get gas. for example I live in chicago and gas there cost $4/g the when I visit friends in the suburbs ill fill up on gas there because it's like $3.50/g.

  3. riding a bicycle. lol

  4. Using the AC will cost you no more than 1 dollar for the whole tank.  Drive less, and when you do drive, keep the RPM level as low as possible.  Keep the windows up, rolling them down creates drag.

  5. I was getting 32mpg.  Then I switched to premium 91 octane.  Now I get 38mpg.  There are a lot of other things you can do too.  Put in Bosh double platinum plugs.  It takes a while to break them in but it's worth it.

  6. carpool

  7. Drive less

    Drive slower

Carry less weight in your car

Shut off if you're going to idle more than one minute

    Keep your car tuned up

The A/C thing helps a lot

Keep your windows rolled up (wind resistence uses more gas)

Avoid stop and go traffic and gridlock, better to drive further on the freeway than shorter in stop and go

OH - and combine errands. Wait until you have a bunch of stuff to get at the store or a bunch of errand to run and do them all together at places close to each other.

  8. Don't accelerate quickly, don't go over 50mph unless necessary. Keep the windows up. By gas a night, when it's more dense. Ummm... when you come to a red light, don't try to go fast then slam on your breaks; come of the accelerator early and try to drift to a stop (in neutral, preferably) -- or try to not stop at all, and go slow enough that you will just keep going. That way you don't have to expel the large amounts of gas it takes to accelerate, again.

I'll reiterate: don't replace the AC with open windows. Open windows cause drag such that it more than cancels out the AC, and you will end up using more gas.

  9. not going out to places as much, driving slow, or buying a small vechicle

  10. use public transportation or carpool and split the cost of gas.

  11. Change your oil and oil flter, change air filter, stop aggressive driving patterns!!

A/C on low will conserve more gas than opening your windows due to drag, which can lower your gas mileage by up to 5% (reported by American hotroddist Boyd Cottington)!!

  12. THIS IS A MAJOR ONE THAT NOBODY THINKS ABOUT:

Keep your tires inflated!! Sounds stupid, but driving around with tires at the wrong pressure seriously reduces your MPG!

    ...

Other than that, keep your AC off, don't accelerate too hard, change gear at a lower speed, and roll down hills instead! :)

  13. drive a small car

  14. keep as easy on the gas as you can, light accelerations. light decelerations too.  EASY. it's difficult to do when you're in traffic.

  15. um dont use ur heater either.. um buy a car with like 25, 30, or 35 miles per gallon.. gas is outragious isnt it!

  16. Don't drive as much. Walk, ride a bike, take a bus...

  17. Fill up earlier in the morning when it's cooler, or whenever it's cool. The gas is denser then so you are actually getting more gas.

Don't wait till your empty, there is less fumes to fill the tank. Gas evaporates quickly

Don't accelerate as fast when in a stopped position

And actually when you drive with your windows down, it slows your car down, making it work harder, making you use more gas.

  18. 1.  Don't drive too fast.

    2.  Don't use premium fuel if your car doesn't require it.

    3.  Maintain your engine (oil, air filter, gasket, etc)

    4.  Check tires for proper pressure.

    5.  Empty your trunk of unnecessary weight (even the back seats).

    6.  Don't drive with the windows open when on the freeway (open windows on high speeds increases drag).

  19. if you are commuting very far, see if there is someone you can stay with near work, during the week, then only commute home on days off

  20. stoves turned off more often

  21. Hmm. I don't use the ac. Try not to speed too. Try not to go on roads with lots of stops if possible. That will also help.

  22. public transit, car  pools, diesel vehicles can run on grease, bike, walk, rob gas stations or siphon fuel from random cars (your choice)

  23. Wlak, ride a bike, take public transportation.

  24. dont use anything that needs gas

  25. run

  26. Carpooling.   Use your cruise control if you have it - it really does help a bit.  Not using the AC isn't a big savings because the more you drive with the windows down - you alter the aerodynamic design of your car.

Don't jump start from stop lights.

    Don't speed.

Try not to drive over 55 mph.

make sure your tires are inflated properly.

  27. less ac yah i guess.  Dont always drive.  Use cruise control.  Dont go into high rpms or dont drive the highways as much.  Dont iddle.  Dont use heat

  28. AC can be a gas guzzler, so try the windows/sunroof.  Also, if you accelerate slower and don't accelerate into stop signs/red lights, you will save gas.  You are essentially wasting gas every time you have to brake unnecessarily.

  29. marry the gas station lady

  30. Car maintenance,   including tune-ups and tire pressure.

Long slow smooth acceleration.    You never use more fuel than when "pouring on the coals."

More following distance,   allows you to see what is going on ahead and respond intelligently.   Limit braking.

Slow down.    Most efficient right after your tranny shifts into high gear.     After 55-60 mph,   aerodynamics comes into play.   Constant speed,  and now use the air to keep windows up and smooth airflow around the car.

Pick-ups,  keep tailgate up.   Helps keep "bubble" of air in bed to smooth airflow over you.

When first getting into car in summertime,  roll windows down to pull out heat instead of trying to overpower it with A/C

Combine trips.   If two destinations within a block or two of each other,  park once and walk.   Excercise will do you good,  car doesn't burn gas with engine off.

Combine trips,  and route effectively.   Multiple stops?   Make a loop,  not run back and forth.

Combine trips.   So you end up in the grocery store with the wife,   she can go with you into Bass Pro Shops,  and probably keep your from going broke in a day.

  31. Cut out spendings on other things.
