Try researching and using different types of composition, lighting, etc. Also try black and white, its great fun, and I find, easier to get good shots sometimes.

I always want to take better and more creative photo's I have 2 girl's and I take pictures everyday.  Here are some simple things that have helped me...Get low if the subject is low sometimes even lower, get close-closer than you think and fill the camera with the subject (the view finder is smaller than the actual photo will b) and finally look at some photos you find interesting  try to recreate them.  Good luck

i do  this - i ask myself things

"is this the same angle/view everyone else uses"

- if you answer yes then dont bother shooting it

shoot during the change of light, learn how to really "look" at the world

get a good SLR camera that uses film or get a digital SLR dosent matter, use some techniques, develop or get some in black and whit use different techniques, dont always make the subject look at you if it is a dog or person. for landscape photos close up pictures of plants or bugs are really cool
