  1. If you are drawn toward investing so much of yourself into a particular area of interest that it takes away from other aspects of your life (in a way would deem "unhealthy") on a continual basis, you may have an addictive personality.

    Some examples of behavior frequently utilized by individuals suffering from addicitons are as follows:

    * Lying

    * Stealing

    * Being irresponsible

    (e.g., not meeting family/work obligations)

    * Being unreliable

    (e.g., late for appointments, breaking promises)

    * Being careless about health and grooming

    (e.g., stopping exercise, poor diet, etc.)

    * Getting sloppy in house keeping

    * Behaving impulsively (without thinking)

    * Behaving compulsively

    (e.g., too much eating, working, s*x)

    * Losing interest in things

    (e.g., recreational activities, family life)

    * Isolating (staying by yourself much of the time)

    * Using other drugs or alcohol

    * Missing or being late for 12-Step or other support groups

    * Stopping prescribed medication

    (antidepressants, anti-anxiety, Antabuse, etc.)

    Addictions generally result in physical or psychological dependency on some substance or object of interest.

    Physical dependency can be easier to recognize in a concrete way, since its withdrawal symptoms are often evident in the physical reaction of the body (i.e. nicotine, alcohol, or other such drugs).

    Psychological dependency is acts the same way but is witnessed as a dependency of the mind as opposed to a physical need to have a concrete substance. Examples would be an addiction to the internet, pornography, video games, dating, etc.

  2. Things that come to mind are:

    people wanting to be close to you.

    never hated.

    exciting and fun.

    hope it helps!

  3. Addiction is characterized by the repeated use of substances or behavior patterns to achieve a high. So whether the high is produced by substances or behavior, the addiction is to the feeling.

    This is how we act and react with others around us - our interpersonal relationships, our patterns of behavior. In other words - the games we play.

    It is our personality in action, our choices of relationship type.

    Your behavior patterns are a matter of choice, your choice.
