  1. Pack my lunch every day at work, when we do go out we look on restuarant.com and see if we can buy 50% coupons in advance (we save anywhere from $30-$40 each time), we keep a change jar and empty our pockets out each day, finally we buy $5 in scratch off tickets each time we go to the grocery store - each time we get a winner we save it and turn it in every 3-4 months- that money goes into our jar as well.

  2. Pay yourself first.  When you get paid, before you pay any bills put $10 or $20 in a savings account.  If you go ahead and do that first you won't be tempted to spend it.  Another thing that is supposed to work is to write down everything you spend.  Do this for a week or a month and see where you can cut corners.  If you buy coffee out or buy your lunch out then start taking it from home.  You can save a lot that way.  Also, when you grocery shop, look at what's on sale and shop accordingly.  Some generics are as good as name brand but cost a lot less.  Also, if you buy name brands use coupons.  Try to buy groceries for the whole week so you aren't running to the store every day or every other day.  Combine your outings.  Try to do all of your errands in one trip so you aren't running to the grocery store one day, the post office another day, the bank a different day, the gas station another day, etc.  You'll save gas by combining your trips.
