What are some workouts I can do to get faster for track?

Currently I am a freshman, and pretty fast now but I want to get faster!

  1. maye expand a little.what are you, a sprinter or long dstance? if youre a sprinter do form drills.


  2. Hey I am a freshman too :)

    I run distance, so the main thing I do off-season to train is build up my mileage.

    Then about once a week I'll do a speed workout.

    an example of one I do is:

    9 x 400's

    seperate the 400's into 100's.

    1st-100 easy, 100 hard, 100 easy, 100 hard

    2nd-hard, easy, hard, easy

    3rd-easy, easy, hard, hard

    4th-hard, hard, easy, easy

    5th-hard, hard, hard, hard

    6th-same as 4th

    7th-same as 3rd

    8th-same as 2nd

    9th-same as 1st

    In between each 400 I walk a 100.

  3. i'd say jump rope as low and as fast as you can. run in place, mabye with ankle weights, and just work on your stamina. mabye go swimming.

  4. hey im on track too but what is your events your the best at?

    walk on your toes, run up hills at full sprint, and practice your start if you have a good start that could also really help

  5. Yeah, there are event specific trainings. We just need to know where you want to improve. Sprint, mid-distance, long distance...

    ---Try ladders:

    200

    400

    800

    800

    400

    200

    at all out pace. or threshold, so maybe at your 1500 pace. You can modify them too any distance if you just build up then go down.

    ---The you can also do repeats. Either mile or 800. But 800 is better i think bc you can do more with little rest...which is harder so probably works better.

    6X800   all at threshold pace (so 1500 pace again) and with 1 min rest in between.

    ---also these things call russian 800s.

    you run a 200, 200and 400 all out. Do these 3 times. Its really hard if you do it right. about 5 min rest between each set
